How to Recover from a Massage
I always feel sluggish the next day after a massage…
Yes…recover from a massage, I said it! I first was put onto this after a few Aussie triathletes told me about it. These Australians are Olympians, some of the best in the world. They told me they run after their massages! Over the years, more and more world-class endurance athletes told me they do that as well.
Here’s the thing to think about. Your heart pumps your blood, but there is no pump for the lymphatic system. Your lymph system is what helps get rid of waste products that are built up from excessive exercise or their lack of, since inactive people get even tighter.
The deeper the massage, the more this makes sense. Exercising lightly, like an easy jog/walk, post-massage activates the muscle pumping mechanisms in your body to help flush out excess fluids we might have broken up or moved around during our session. You want this because you’ll feel better sooner after the massage.
So next time you get a massage, try going for a walk/run/spin and see if you feel better sooner!
